Hyacinth

This is a flower I've always found difficult to compose. Not sure why, but it's probably just me having a creative block...

Shot this earlier this spring and just got around to processing it.

Pentax K-7; f/25, 13.0 sec, ISO-200; Tamron 90mm macro.

Thanks for taking the time to look, C&C appreciated.

Derek, this is wonderfully composed. The colors are beautiful and the detail on the petals from the lighting is splendid. Great processing as well.

Block has been broken now, Derek  - love the lighting and how the stem curves slightly at the top going left - I cannot see what can be improved here.

I have also always found this flower difficult to compose but you did a very nice job of it here. I really like the lighting and the black BG. Very nice work.

Derek: I concur with your comp troubles but I think you have hit this one out of the park. Marvelous color and flow through the frame. This is excellent.>=))>

Derek:
We had this in the house for Chinese New Year and I had trouble composing anything that was worthy. I certainly like your take here. The yellow really pops. I am viewing this with an uncalibrated monitor and the purple petals look a little flat to me - a curve adjustment on a luminosity mask may give this additional punch? worth exploring as this is a very nice image.

Most excellent shot, Derek !! No trouble apparent in composing this - it's perfect for me with its tumbling flowers filling the frame. And I love the slightly low key lighting and colouring.

Derek,

I've never gotten a hyacinth image where I like the composition or the image. I think they're very difficult to compose. I love this. Exceptional image for my tastes.

You could call this "Deep Purple." Wonderful subdued light and rich color. Excellent work!

What I like about this image is the painting like soft feel to it. Very well done.
