Great Blue Juvenile

All's been really quiet for me with the shore birds the last couple of months. In fact, I have not seen any in Gulfport since May. But early yesterday there were more than a dozen Great Blue juveniles hanging out on the beach at mid-tide. Most were pretty typical poses, but I liked the head turn and the curve of the neck as this one was eyeing me from a few sand bars away. Larger image included.

Really like the stratified background layers Bill and the way the colors of the sand match those of the heron. Nice sharpness and light.

Sweet light in this image, Bill. I like the vertical pose-quite unusual for this species.

Nice one Bill. I enjoy seeing the juvenile GBHs with their distinct plumage. The layered BG is nice and I like that the heron's head is in the blue zone between the browns. Crisp too.
