Olympus E-5, 300mm x 2.0TC, tripod set low
f10, 1/250, ISO400
Still on eggs. I'm curious if folks think the reeds detract too much.
Cropped to vertical. Selective sharpening.
C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

I'm easy, Jim. I love nature photography and this is nature pure and simple and well seen, and presented. I haven't been out in a marsh for along time and this gave me a great feeling of nostalgia. Thanks for posting.

I like this as posted, especially in the larger size. I can't recall seeing this species on the nest in a post before. I think the grasses are an asset in the overall image.

Nice habitat shot Jim! I don't think I have ever seen one in the wild before. Hope you get to capture chicks from this nest soon.

Very nice habitat shot, Jim. I don't have a problem with the reeds, either......that's the way you saw it, so that's the way it is....

I like shots like this - the vegetation is perfect for the situation (nesting), the eye is clearly evident as is much of the body. Just enough of both the grebe and the nest are evident to make this a pleasing image for me. I also enjoy both the reflection and your composition. Good eye Jim.

Grasses are wonderful and you managed to get that eye right in the middle. Looks fine to me! Sharon

I like this a lot, Jim. you placed the bird very nicely, getting a good view of the eye, and I like all the reeds around it. good dof and very nice comp.

Nope, the reeds look fine to me too, Jim. I think it's good that you managed to obtain both the reeds in front of the bird and the bird in reasonable focus. I also like that you captured the reflection.
