Baby Blue Button
Sony A700
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 400, 1/125 @ f8

Chrissy put in some of these about 3 years ago and they have spread themselves all over the garden. This one sprouted up under one of our maple trees in a lantana patch. I kind of liked the OOF red lantana behind the young flower. Hope it works for you. All comments welcome.>=))>

Nicel arranged Bill. I like the long format. DOF is very good. The red behind? I'm not sure if I like it. I wish it was not there.

Bill:
The blue button looks superb and I also like the leaves which supports the bloom. The bg is sweet and red provides strong contrast to the blue.

Perfect pov and dof combination Bill. The pano is also extremely effective in emphasizing the spread shape of the subject. I like the red a lot but I do think that's subjective. To me it's a flat enough hue and dark enough to serve as a bg. It emphasizes the flower by way of contrast as Gary has said. Also the pov works with it perfectly. Again, all subjective though. As usual Bill, this is masterful photography for my tastes.

The placement and orientation in the frame makes me think of a dancer taking a bow.

I am going to agree with Miro on this one. I like this alot, particularly the angled comp of the BBB, the placement of its leaves within the frame, and the BG, but I think I'd personally like it even better without the red lantana directly behind the BBB. Still a very pleasing image as is.

Bill, beautiful composition and I like the longer format as well. The detail in the center of the flower is perfect. Nice!

Wonderful detail and light. The OOF red lantana helps give a 3D effect to me. Wonderful capture and display in my opinion.

Bill, I like the comp and pano format because it flows to the structure of the blue button. I also like the DOF and the pastel colour palette. The red lantana doesn't work for me for two reasons. First the colour value of the red is too intense for the primary subject. Second the placement of the red lantanas would work better they bookended the button. A little shift to the right might do the trick. However, as Pat said this is all very subjective.
