I like the comp of the mushrooms and the detail is very good. If this were mine and you have the pixels, I would crop the top just below the trees. For me the trees distract form the mushrooms and make the image to busy.

Neat group of shrooms Sandipan. Excellent detail and I like the sense of intimacy your pov and dof provides. I agree with Richard about the crop from the top but I'd probably take it to 4:5 and leave some of the green in. Very fine image as posted.

Sandipan:
A very neat clump of mushrooms. Nice to include the environment. I don't mind the forest in the bg and can imagine myself walking along the path into the trees to explore the area more.

I third the crop idea Sandipan, but sure like this capture. Sweet and natural detail. Good eye and capture.

Nice composition. Square format would be more suitable.

Nice group. I like the inclusion of one showing the underside.

Thanks everybody for the comments and feedback. As suggested, I cropped some portion from the top:

I prefer the original composition as I think the trees offer a nice contrast to the mushrooms (the big overlooking the very small). I like the cool, early light here too.

If I hadn't read the previous comments, I too would have suggested cropping from below the tree line and making it a square format. It all depends on your intent. If the mushrooms are the main subject a crop would be recommended... if, as your title suggests, the environment as a whole is the subject then your original post is best. Regardless, either makes a good image.

Sandipan: Marvelous find and a very cool shot. I like this a little bit better cropped to 6:7 from the top retaining just the first bit of the forest BG. I do think your crop on the repost works very nicely. >=))>
