Foxtail Lily

One of the perks of doing floral arrangement class is that I get to play with the flowers after the class is over. Not sure if this is a foxglove though but that is what the florist called these.

Epson 4990 scan, CS5, Viveza, TK masks. Thanks for looking and C&C appreciated.

Title changed thanks to ID by Bob Duff. Looks like Eremurus bungei

Gary, I really like the lighting in this one! The detail is amazing as well. The leaf on the right side really compliments the two flowers in my opinion. Nicely done.

Beautiful image, Gary, but it's like no foxglove that I am familiar with...

Gary, I love this picture! It's stunning! I like your comp, DOF, the colors, lighting, and the mixture of textures. That curly leaf adds a interesting contrast to the flowers. Don't know what the flower is.

Really like the scan of these. The comp works very well. I believe the two flowering stocks are eremurus. Couldn't tell you which variety but pretty sure of the flower type.

Lots of beautiful interesting lines in this image. Exceptional presentation Gary. I especially love the curves of the leaf on the right side, this makes the image for me.

The best scan on this site to date - for my tastes. (smile) The stalks are beautiful but I think your leaf is inspired. Simple greens and yellows. Exceptional image Gary.

Superb. Have you considered an alt. comp with the leaf and just one flower?

Thanks everyone for your comments. Really appreciate them

Scott:
Yes indeed. I took a high key image with the small stalk and the leaf the the result is also pleasing. However, I like this one because of the triangles in the comp (the big stalk and the leaf, big and small stalks and the tips of the stalks and the leaf). Generally I find odd numbers comps are a little stronger than even number ones.

Spectacular lighting, Gary - especially in the way the leaf at the R comes in and out of the shadows. Nice relationship, too, between the two flowers.

I was near to miss this beauty. Unforgivable! I love all, Gary: the shining light, the design on the blackboard, the perfect composition, even the frame. Splendid. One of the best among your image, for me.
Take care
