Silene latifolia

There have been lots of wild flowers in the woods of SW Minnesota over the past few weeks. Last week I got out for a couple of hours and found quite a lot white campion flowers. I'm curious what you think of this image. The bloom is largely oof except for the stamens and while I'm liking it as a print it seems to have lost something on the monitor. High iso due to wind.

1D4, 180 f3.5 macro, tripod, iso 800, 1/2000, f3.5, full frame

Keith,

I certainly like this. It's a strong composition. You got excellent subject/ground separation and fine light. Where this is in focus, the detail is excellent. I'd probably like more dof to get all of the white bloom sharp or sharper. I understand the tradeoffs though and the wind. I particularly like the mood of it as it sort of materializes out of the bg and I certainly wouldn't want to give that up for more dof.

Beautiful photo of the Bladder Campion Flower  - much easier to use traditional names. Slightly more depth of field to cover the stem and the whole flower would make for another excellent portrait even though I like this composition as well. A slight crop from the top may look good as well

Keith: Inspired DOF/POF management and just a superb final result. I think I would crop this to 4:5 from the top primarily and then blow it up to at least 16x20. Well done.>=))>

Very nice wildflower profile. A little more definition in the flower would have made this even better, I think, but I like it as is. I agree with the suggestion to crop this from the top.

Very nice image, well done Keith. IMO a bit more space at the left side and a bit brightening of the dark green corner would make it even better.

Keith, I am in troubles in commenting this photo. The first impression is excellent, then my eyes realize that the plant is all in focus, but not the white flower: the main subject. This creates a problem to my mind.
Take care.
