Following on the previous post of the two lionesses feeding, a few people felt the image was a bit bloody. Here is another one of the lioness without the gore  . Well almost. I love the stare in her eyes. All business!. The wasn't great as it was overcast and the ladies decided to stay in the road on the white sand. But hey, I'd rather have this image than none at all.

Haha wow that is an amazing animal! Of course I'll probably say what everyone else does: "I wish she wasn't in the road" but I do realize there was nothing you could do, and I think you did amazingly well with what you had! The lion's stare is so powerful! Comp works well for me! :toast:

Incredible detail and nice gaze. The blood tells you what has occurred, the road is a minor drawback at most. I understand that you probably want to limit the presence of the road, but a slightly looser composition would work pretty well also I think.

Hi Neal,

Well, if I had to choose one or the other, I'd go for the previous more gory image. Not that this isn't a strong image, but I liked the context provided by the carcass in the previous post. Technically this looks strong but I would tend to go with Gary's suggestion of a slightly looser crop (assuming you have the room to work with). Very compelling eyes in this shot and I quite like how the tip of the tail is up-turned - minor thing but adds to the image for me.

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Line the bruteness of the image, the bloody mouth and the curiosity in her eyes as if she did not know what she ate is interesting
a tiny contrast boost would help I guess

Beautiful shot - I'd also have her on the road than not at all! The blood tells the story...
