REPOST - Grand Canyon Overlook

Hi all,
Another shot from the Southwest, this time from the grand canyon. During my 4 days at the canyon (3 of them spent backpacking inside it) I wasn't blessed with great weather- Intermittent hail and snow showers mixed with extremely harsh light (it was worse than it sounds). So, I was unable to really try my hand at the grand sweeping vistas so many photographers travel to the canyon for. Instead I tried to focus on getting smaller more "intimate" scenes with my telephoto. This is one of my favorite- the lit up tree with the dark canyon wall behind. Hope you like it too!

Cam, You didn't have chance of walking down inside the canyon but you have got a great capture. I really like it. I like the perfect light on the wall and tree, I like with the defused BG wall. Great comp.

I think a lower perspective that brings the tree up closer to the layered background rock at the top and a re-framing or crop that eliminates the bright rock in the lower right corner could make this photo even stronger, but I do enjoy the light on the tree and the overall presentation.

I like the lit tree against the shadowed BG. I would crop or clone out the bright rocks in the LRC. :toast:

This is a nice contrasting shot that isolates the tree in a strong way. I like these shots, good one.
I agree about cropping or cloning out the bright rock in the LRHC.

A wonderful example of how powerful tele lens compression can be if used in a creative way. Slight trade-off is the rock(?) sticking in from the LRC. Otherwise - well done, Cam.

Very nice contrast between the fore- and background and I like that the background details are clear without distracting from the focal point. I agree with the suggestion to burn down or clone out the LR rock.

Thanks guys! Here is a repost with the rock cloned out of the LRHC. Let me know if it helps!

Really nice comp and I like the light too. Would maybe crop/heal/clone the bright rocks at the lower right.

Beautiful shot. i love how you isolated the tree here. I would crop out the rock on the right side....so the seconde version is my favorite

Cam,

Excellent job in isolating the tree and this part of the rim against the background. I think it's often difficult to be able to pull this off at the GC, but you did so very nicely here. The repost works better without the distracting brightness in the corner.

No other nits or suggestions really. Well seen and captured.

This is beautiful. The back lighting on the tree and the ledge are great. The distant walls have enough detail to help create context. My only nit is the bright rock in the lrc, dodging it will minimize its distraction.

Like this a lot Cam, I was going to mention the rock glistening in the LRC, but I see you corrected that. Sweet!

I like the repost better. I might crop a little off the top - maybe to just below your watermark. I was just at the canyon for a couple of days last week and getting ready to post an image or two from there. I never get tired of seeing and photographing the canyon.
