From a Galaxy Far Away

In man's eternal quest to find life on another planet comes this report. After a year of travel and another month processing the response, the latest probe has made a successful landing. Initial reports indicate this planet is pretty hot. No water found yet but...
Alright already...
This is an Iceland Poppy that I shot in natural light. Used a LED flashlight burst straight down on the pistel to create this effect.

One question for you : I see the use of Tilt-Shift Lens. How exactly did the Tilt/Shift help in this case ?
Ram: My 90 mm T/S lens is my go to lens. The best explanation of how it works is in this tutorial: http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/tilt-shift-lenses2.htm
For this image I wanted the very near parts of the petals in focus as well as as many of the stamens I could get in focus. Of course I was very close to start with so was limited to how many stamens I would get. The "stackers" could achieve what I have plus the back stamens but you could not also get the lighting effect for the LED flashlight burst by stacking. There are always trade-offs as you well know. Hope this helps.

Intense and great shot. The flashlight is an interesting idea (and well worth duplicating).
