Interesting flower Richard! I love the color pallete, the BG, and the horizontal comp, but my eye really wants a little more DOF because I like the character of the stem. Oh, looks like a couple dust bunnies snuck onto your sensor!

Richard, Looks like to me - flowers have formed a sign-post here  . Never seen this kind of Penstemon before either. If you so wish, you could buy a small 12inch or 18inch diffuser which will help you manage the light better.

A little more depth would have put this over the top for me Richard. The BG color makes the flower pop off the screen.

I like the color palette Richard and the bg works very well for me. I like Ram's suggestion of using a small diffuser to soften the light a bit. I'd probably also prefer this with a touch more dof. Very neat subject.

Richard:
Good call with the pano frame and the bg looks really great. The flowers must be pretty small and so you must be quite close to the subject giving you such narrow DOF at F16. With a SS of 1/250, you still have room to close down the aperture even more assuming there is not wind. Alternative, you may want to stack this but this may be a challenge as well in the open.
