Fall In Bishop Canyon
by Chris Chamberlain
One I didn't manage to get posted from last fall. I have done some additional processing to the larger version, what do you think? Mostly color adjustments, and some extra dodge/burn in the water.
Lots going on lately. For starters, I hurt my back last week. I ended up missing 3 days of work and making 3 trips to the Chiropractor!!!!!!!!! Then to the eye doctor who told me I have a stigmatism, and need reading glasses as well as bifocals!!!!!!!!! Seems like I'm getting old. Not 100% yet with the back, but moving pretty decent so far.
Then, my Pastor, and dear friend, and his wife retired and moved away to Florida this last weekend. If it had not been for him, I may have never had a Pastor. A real good man and friend. I'm feeling the void they left behind already. I'm sad, but happy for them, kind of bittersweet. The new Pastor is someone we know as well, and he's also a great guy. I'm glad to see it be him taking over. I hope discussing it isn't making anyone uncomfortable, I'm just letting you all know something about me, that maybe you didn't know. I won't go into any more detail than that. You are kind of my extended family and all!

Yeah, I spend enough time here that my wife tells me there are other things in life. I ask her "like what". I'm sure everyone here has experienced the look I recieve from their own significant other!!!!

You know, maybe it's just me, but for some reason I'd much rather hear about what's going on in people's lives in their posts rather the travails they endured to get the picture. There's a certain humanity in the former and just a super-humanness in the latter. I personally prefer the former. Hmm, reading glasses and bifocals and backache. Just a guess--mid-forties
By the way, I'm not currently practicing, or teaching Tae Kwon Do. My instructor, like my pastor, had a huge influence on my life. He was the best man at my wedding. He eventually lost his battle with cancer a few years ago. Once that happened, my passion for martial arts seemed to go away.
You nailed it, 46 this past march! I guess if I lost some weight and got back in the gym, I might have a healthier back and over all just plain feel better.
So there, now you all know everything you might ever want to know about me and then some!!!!!!!

Sorry about the back - mid 40's sounds about right though (on the eyes too). Maybe your Pastor moving to Florida will give you an excuse to come visit - would love to take you to the beach and swamp. I do understand about the void though. I lost my best friend since childhood about 8 years ago and I still feel that void. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him and miss all the great times and adventures we shared.
Hope your back is better soon.
Bill, if I ever get anywhere close to Florida, I'll be giving you a call. I'd love to get together and see some of your neck of the woods. They pretty much said I had no choice in the matter, and had to come visit, so I expect we'll be out sometime. Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.

It's tough to lose mentors at any time in our lives, however at least the pastor didn't move on to another plane of existence. Far beyond our reach," most of the time" No problem for me, I have appreciated greatly all the mentors I have here at NPN, of which I include you. Great image, and from a great trip if it's from early October last year. Thanks as always for your past comments and input and get well.

Anyway, I grabbed this while Steve and I were unsuccessfully trying to find where you managed to cross the creek. I have a horizontal too.
Thanks,
Chris
Personally, I like the stories behind the photos, and the stories behind the photographers. To me, it's all good and I wish you the best!! And I'm 48 and can relate a bit--developed some health problems about four years ago that really limit my mobility (not to mention my income)... but if it weren't for those problems, I may not have discovered my passion for photography that had lain dormant for so long. Life is weird. Enjoy it!
Man, I almost missed this one and it certainly seems like a missed a family reunion or something. Hey, sorry to hear about the back - hope you're getting better. Don't fret too much about the getting old part. We're all right there with ya.
Oh, the image. Beautiful and classic Eastern Sierra autumn image. Processing and all the techs look great. The only suggestion/observation I have is that to me, this looks slightly rotated. It's like I want to rotate this a degree or so CW. No biggie though and since no one else noticed it, it must be me.
Wonderful image Chris. I hope you're feeling better.
