Another from the tulip festival in May, shot with the long lens. I processed this in LR2 and used a couple of filters from NIK, DFine 2.0, Color Efex pro 3.0 darken/lighten center, classic soft focus.

Larger version available, thank you for stopping!

Gorgeous color Craig and I like the composition as well. It reminds me some of Christopher Beanes' work and I certainly mean that as a compliment. I'd probably clone in a little of the flower in the viewer's upper left corner but just compulsiveness on my part. This is a beautiful image as posted.

HOT! Looks like flames in a bed of glowing tulip embers. I really like the DOF here, with the "right" amount of BG detail for me, and just enough OOF foreground to frame the sharp parts without being a distraction.

Holy smokes... No smoke only flames  Great study in red Craig. I like how the single tulip rises above the rest.

Craig:
Red hot long lens magic! The single focused lotus just pops out from the rest. Nicely done.

Reminds me of a proverb in my native tongue "killing a sparrow with a nuclear weapon" but in a good way here though. Great use of the long lens. The main tulip really glows superbly.

I have never used a lens as long as this but just wondering if you used a small extension tube the foreground could have been blurred even more. Never mind.

Some serious red indeed! I think this is wonderful how with all the red in this the main subject really stands out because of the lighting. Very well crafted image

This is the best so far Craig (in my opinion). The colors, light and point of focus are top shelf. I agree with Pat on the upper left, but it sure isn't a deal breaker.
