Beautiful image. The background bird is just OOF enough to give the other one someone to talk to, but not interfere. I just love this one. Oooh. Puffins.

Seems as if you gained their trust. Full frame, 70-200mm. Outstanding capture.

Steve, I love this portrait! The colors and details are simply awesome. I also like your choice for DOF with the BG bird. It really makes this have a 3D feel to it.

What a fantastic portrait, Steve. I like the open beak and the second bird really adds to the shot. Very well done.

The open bill gives this a unique vibe, but I really admire the composition and short DoF here. Nice work, Steve.

Wow!
I could see this as a cover shot.
The detail, colours - everything - spot on.
My goal is to get to Newfoundland next year to see some of these amazing birds.

Wonderful shot!!!! I really like the composition in this one. The detail in the focused bird is superb and having the other one in the back really adds to this image. Very well done.
