Curlique -June Challenge

My art class spent the morning at our teacher's home just wandering around his acre of woodland plants, wildflowers and exotic plants. It was very humid and about 90 degrees but I did manage to capture a few images before we took a break and had lunch.

This image is a tendril from a Clematis that was growing in the woodland garden. For the June Challenge I processed this image only in Photoshop and added two texture layers. The first texture is Lamp White Brush, blending mode was Hard Light with 43% opacity. The second texture is Elysium, blending mode was Hard Light with 90% opacity. Both of these textures are from Flypaper Textures. A bit of work with Curves to bring out some brightness and then a bit of cropping.

I plan to return to this garden when it's not so hot as there are fabulous plant species to photograph.

Your comments are always greatly appreciated. Stay cool.

Simple, interesting, eye-catching. Looks like a painting on hardboard. Nice composition.

That's a very interesting tendril and your textures work well with the minimalist image.

Good contrast between curves of tendril and textural treatment. And the vertical comp seems just right.

Very nice abstract. I'm a big fan of natural tendrils—well integrated with flypaper filter.
