Fall into Summer

We live outside of Houston on the SW side, and we've not seen rain for months.
We have our own well, so I'm watering trees and pastures all the time. But it's tough watering 5 acres.
Last year we lost 5 big trees because of that drought.

One pretty side effect, is that many trees are dropping their leaves with their Fall Colors. I really like the deep colors of this photo....I just hate why the leaves are in this condition.

There is beauty to be found in the hardest of times. But, please, do a "rain dance" for us! My trees and pastures are so thirsty!


June 17,2011 update....we've had only 3" of rain in my area since Jan. 1st. In 2010...we had almost 17 " of rain in the same 5 1/2 month period! The median on Hwy 99, about 5 miles North of my house is on fire (daughter just called) with 2 fire trucks! Thank God, the wind blows from the South to the North!
