Spring Canopy

Another take of the famous tree in the Portland Japanese Garden. This tree is photographed a lot, usually in the fall. It's still kind of spring here in the Pacific Northwest (I know its really hot elsewhere--but we've only had one day over 80 so far!)....Anyhow this is a spring version of the tree usually photographed in the fall. When I made this image I was thinking monochrome( or B&W).. and I'll try it tomorrow night maybe.

Whoa, this is just glowing with electric springtime energy. The backlit reds and the carpet of green set’s this one off. Nice comp, too.

Very nice indeed!
The contrast of greens and reds really leaps off the screen!
And the graphic sweep of the trunk works well.

The colors in this one are just wild, very punchy and saturated, which I like. Beautiful tree. I feel the rock on the left is a little heavy, but that is a minor nit.

This is really nice, Jack. I love the structural elements of the branches and the softly colored bg. I'm sure B&W will work as well due to the great contrasts. Thanks for sharing the colored version

I assume prints are estimated at $3M apiece
Beautiful image, Jack!

Real pretty scene. The saturation is pushed a bit too far for my tastes, but otherwise, the image works really well.

Jack - you photograph this tree as well as anyone and better than most (the other guys dropped names first). Your choice of framing and timing of the light conditions is superb. I might pull back the brightest greens a tad. Good one mate!

I agree, most photos I have seen have been fall so this is nice. I'm not sure about the BW, the color is great! I agree on bringing down the greens a tad.

So many elements to see in this image, and they all flow. Love the colors.
