I like to go back to Torrile in the Po Valley, where this lovely Heron is always trying to catch something. In the next picture I’ll post, you will see his catch. Nikon D3S; (1/2000); Aperture f/8.0; lens 400 mm; ISO:1000; Exposure Bias +1/3 EV

An interesting bird. I've never heard of this species, so would really like to see the face. Looks like harsh light, but you handled it quite well, Renzo.

Interesting subject matter and I like the action. I have some questions about your shooting data and the brightness of the image. There is obviously plenty of light. The ISO seems unnecessarily high and the +1/3ev also. I assume it was shot in RAW. If so, you may be able to reprocess this correcting the exposure. Parts of the tail are probably lost to the whites, but I think the overall contrast and depth of the image can be improved. Can't wait to see your next post. Maybe some of these post-processing ideas can work.

In looking at your other images, I notice they are quite bright, as well. You may need to calibrate your monitor.

Hope you find this helpful.

Excellent timing to have most of the eye visible, but the bill submerged. You did a good job of stopping this rapid action and I like the view of the habitat. As Angela already mentioned, the body and tail of the bird is very bright and the white regions are without detail. I look forward to seeing the next shot in the series too. :toast:
