What a beautiful place to walk Todd. I would have preferred if the does had been in focus. It appears the focus point was on the grass midway between the front of the frame and the does. If you intentionally shot the does out-of-focus, please let me know. I may just be missing your point.

Having taken a look at your gallery it's clear to see you have a real talent for flora and close-up work Todd, and that generally wildlife is not you chosen genre, which might offer one reason why the Does are somewhat out of focus.
As it happens, I like this composition very much with the tunnel view leading into the background out of the dark and into the light of day. Having said that, I think the foreground is a little too dark (something I reckon you could lighten up a little without losing too much of the wonderful contrast between the forest interior and the open space that lies beyond) and I just wish there was more focus set on the Does instead of the area immediately before them, as this would have made for a truly excellent wildlife image IMO.
All the same, hope to see more of your work here in this galley in days, weeks, and months to come :^)

I think you have a good thing going with the natural framing and of the corridor and overhanging tree, with the deer in the bright center. I, too, wish you had a little more detail on the central subjects and wonder if your best focus grabbed the verticals of the nearer branches. Then again, with 1/10 second, (if handheld) it is virtually impossible to get a truly crisp capture. That is very slow even for a shorter lens!

There is a lot to like Todd about the composition and the lighting looking through a rich green tunnel to your subjects. One can certainly tell the two central subjects are deer and that they are looking at the viewer, but like the others I think this would be a stronger image with the deer in focus.
