So, it looks like I'm not going to make it anywhere for some spring photos this year. I did have this wonderful scene to enjoy last year when I arrived in Yosemite Valley after the snowfall through the night before. I have a converted cersion too, if anyone's interested. I liked this in color, personally. Large version included too. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I like the intimate view here Chris as well as the variety of contrasts..... especially the water motion against the crisp ice covered branches and the ice on the brown rocks. A lot going on here but I enjoy looking at all the elements here. A real feast for the eyes.

Interesting point of view Chris, the water looks a little grayish to me, I might adjust its luminousity just a bit. The dusting of snow on the rocks is great. Now go out and get some spring shots, even if it's from your own backyard

This is a busy composition but it works for me. I'm with Zack about the water looking a bit dull, fix that and you've got an excellent unique shot here.

Man, still working this moment, eh? I understand.. it was a fantastic moment! I love the bits of red in this rendition, and of course that powdered sugar is just incredible. Hope you get to get out soon.

Man Chris, you have got yourself a collection from this spot. This one is outstanding! And as usual, I'm quite envious. I tried again on our recent visit and as you might expect, there's a ton more water than what you've captured here. I love this one, as I do the other couple of versions you've captured from here.

I didn't initially think anything about the water or luminosity until I read the comments. Perhaps you could bring the lighter values up a notch, but I don't think it's too gray. You've got a pretty nice range of tones here. I do think though that this has a bit of a magenta in it, mostly in the wet rocks and dusting of snow along the top and scattered about. An easy fix that I use is simply a hue/sat adj layer and desaturate magenta about 50 pts and call it a day. of course, YMMV.

Overall an awesome image Chris. and for sure it inspires me to try again next year.

Yeah Floris, Lon accused me of milk'n it too. It's okay, I have to get all I can out of those few moments there. I have a lot of variations/crops/ and conversions of this scene. Here's a repost with the water brought up some more.

Thanks

Okay, it's here instead!

Lon, Thanks, I think I see the magenta you point out. Maybe just too much saturation caused it in the wet rocks. But, since Floris likes it, I might let it stay in there. My usual clueless excuse as to why it's in the snow in the upper area. I'll give your suggestion a try.

Thanks.

Sorry for all the reposting folks. I guess I need to scrutinize my processing more sometimes. But I appreciate you guys pointing out my flaws for me! here is one with the magenta neutralized some with Lon's suggestion.

Thanks

Hi Chris, I think this is a very nice shot. The snow dusted rocks look fantastic. I think Matt said it just right, they look frosted! Very cool look. Water looks great to me and I think I like the second version best too. Nice work Chris!

A stunning comp and POV, Chris. The light dusting of snowfall contrasts beautifully with the rocks in the scene. This is very nicely done.

Beautifully composed, and the last version seems to have the colors worked out, at least on this uncalibrated work monitor I'm on. The only suggestion I might add is to brighten the white point a little, the white and snow looks a little grayish (again, keep in mind, uncalibrated monitor).

Love it Chris, it is excellent. A rather famous spot in Yosemite, but I have not seen it from this perspective - great dynamics in this one. Fantastic scene!

Very nice! The water flow and the pathway cut among those rocks tells a great story. Your composition is perfect.
