Tulip Dual Exposure

Hi all.

First an apology for being missing lately. Work, family, church, and especially new baby are keeping with little time to process photos. I have gotten in a bit of time to shoot - and have had some very productive shooting time - I just have not had much time to process photos.

The little one is doing well and is even sleeping through the night at 2 months old. We feel very blessed.

I liked the sense of motion in this shot. I feel that the dual exposure made the colors a bit less vibrant, but I tried to saturate them a bit more to help that. I felt like the sense of motion from the dual exposure was worth the slight loss of color saturation.

Any and all thoughts appreciated - even if you disagree with me.

Nathan

Nikon D80, Sigma 180 macro, tripod, ISO 200, f3.5 for both exposures

I like the sense of inner glow on this one. Well done. I'm not quite sure what you mean my dual exposure. Two shots blended?

Congrats on the little one.

Hi David. Thanks.

Nikon DSLR's allow you to take multiple exposures to include in one frame. My D80 allows for 2 or 3 exposures on one photo. I think some of the higher end camera bodies might allow for more.

Nathan, First of all congrats on the arrival of the little one. Hope you are being kept busy  . This is a very lovely shot. DE might have made it a bit pale but it has also given it a creamy/dreamy feel. I like it

Nathan, the DE gives an almost translucency to the tulips which is very appealing. Great job.

Nathan, congrats on the joy of the lil' one! This is a fine photo with beautiful pastels and sweeping curves. Had you not mentioned double exposure, I would not have known. It looks like a colorized x-ray shot...certain luminescence with soft effects....and I say this as a compliment. I would only consider changing the b/g to remove the halo surrounding the stems. Well done! Ken S

This is gorgeous Nathan exactly as posted. The color looks great on my MacBook. The only thing I'd consider doing is making the bloom on the viewers left clearly the front image. So I'd clone color into the right side of the left bloom where the left edge of the right bloom intrudes into it. I'd probably also consider removing the stem halo per Ken's suggestion. Love the shapes and color.

Glad to hear things are going well at home. Good to have you posting.

Congrats on the "wee one".
I like this one a lot Nathan. Reminds me of a candle gently swaying and the translucent appearence of the stems take this over the top IMO. Oh yeah, the colors and comp aren't bad either.

This is really gorgeous. Like the creamy appearance for the DE. :toast:

Is this a single bloom with different 2 different POV or 2 blooms exposed twice?

Hi Gary.

This is two separate blooms, with the positioning of them just right in relation to each other.

Nathan, what hits my eyes in this photo is the delicacy and softness of the colors; beside the elegance of the flowers outer design. I really love this image.
Cheers.
