Photographed with a Powershot G10 in the mountains around Fiksdal (Norway) near my hometown, in RAW format. Image processing in Lightroom. Sharpening in Nik Sharpener.

That's an interesting old tree, Thomas. Everyone has there own preferences, but for me, I would have approached this scene a little differently. With this crop, clearly, your focus is on the tree, as the surrounding landscape is not featured prominently - in this case, I would have preferred using a shallower dof (smaller f number) to throw the surrounding landscape out of focus, making it less distracting to your subject. Unfortunately, for landscape photos, a sufficiently shallow dof is very difficult to achieve with compact camera (even an advanced compact like the G10). The other way to approach this would be to photograph the tree as the focal point in the landscape by selecting a wider view, which puts the tree more in the context of it's environment. Having said that, I also find the lighting quite harsh, causing deep black shadows that are distracting. Some of the harshness in contrast is likely related to the processing also. Hope this is helpful.

This is an unique and interesting image. That's an incredible tree and what looks like a wonderful view behind it. As Doug said, the light is pretty harsh and the stong contrast a little distracting. If this is close enough, I would suggest returning in many different light conditions to find which one really does this tree justice. I see this is your first post, so I will look forward to seeing more of your images.

Doug, Nancy
Thank you for the comment. I agree with every bit of your statements. I don't know what was happen but i was sending the wrong file because it was to dark. Maybe i should not send from my laptop because the display is to bright.
I have the original edited image included in this comment.
At the moment i have only the G10 so i have to try to work around the problems like DOF and the limited focal length.
I use the images mostly as notes to come back later with a bigger camera (if i get a new one).
Regards
Thomas
