Nesting Grebe

It's a while I do not post in this gallery, but lately I didn't have great opportunities to shoot birds close to home.
For Easter holidays I went to France and there I found a beautiful little lake with some couples of great crested grebes in nesting. I observed them for three days and it was great. I'd like to come back in that peaceful place soon.

tripod full frame

Thanks for viewing.
C&C are very welcome.

Monica this is wonderful. I like everything about this from the great detail, activity of the Grebe and the surroundings are as artistic and painting like as is possible in a photo. :jump: :jump: :jump:

Wonderful detail and colors on the larger version. Interesting to see the nest site as the taller reeds around the nest seem to anchor the nest in place. Excellent image, well done.

Hi, Monica - Excellent catch!
Wonderful behaviour, great pose, peaceful lake, and the reeds and reflections are marvelous.
My only suggestion would be to heal or clone over the bright spots in the water, as they are a little distracting.

Wow, Monica. This is fabulous. The strong colorations, light, and sharp reeds are a great contrast to the affectionate act of the parent looking over the eggs. Well done.

This is beautiful Monica. Nice detail in the grebe, nice colors in the surroundings and really nice that you can see the egg. You may consider selectively adding a tad bit more light to eye, but that is a very small nit on a great image.

What a wonderful capture of a very intimate moment with natural history. The lighting seems perfect and a good choice for portrait especially allowing for the full reflection in the water's surface.

Very well done Monica and looking forward to seeing more of your work :^)

Congratulations Monica on this very artistic and exceptional image. I really love the dreamy OOF Green in the water and BG. Of course the nest and egg tending adult are a fabulous subject and your capture of it all is just the best. When I see an exceptional image like this one, I try and imagine the impact of a very large copy (at least 20 x 30") properly matted and framed would look and I think you would be very happy with the results.

Superb image, Monica. I particularly like the moment you captured here. The green tones, soft light and oof background from the low angle all make this a very tranquil and intimate image. The reeds add an excellent sense of habitat. :toast:
