I loved everything about this shoot except for two things , That being the fact that my brain forgot to check the Av and I didn't get optimal DOF, and that I decided not to carry my waiste pack on this day. Needless to say my smart phone went in my back pocket and I decided it was a good day to go wading the marsh. This was the day i lost my phone to the salt water gods :( I really like the light , the colors and the pose so I decided to keep it and sharpen best I could. Comments and critiques always welcome as I learn so much from you all.

12 commentsNice water and BG, and sharp enough.
Hard to tell with the reflection, but seems to need a bit of CW rotation?
Sorry about your cell phone.. Trillium Lake in Oregon ate one of my good cameras a couple years ago, so I co-miserate.
Really nice image!

Nice head turn and good sharpness end to end. At least you got the shot you were after!
Too bad about the phone, that salt water can wreck havoc on any eletronics!
I like the setting here and the light and how the water has shades of green & blue. To my eye the larger version does look a little over sharpened and perhaps a little contrasty and over saturated. Especially the eye and the bill. Those issues are very easy to sort out.
The pose is awesome, love the eye contact and the splayed out tail.
Just sorry to read about your phone ;^.
Something about the pose and the sultry semi-hooded eye makes me think this one's a lady and, for all her wet, ruffled feathers, a classy one at that ;^)
Sorry to hear about your phone, I do that kinda stuff all the time
Well done
