Classic Nuthatch

Just a White-breasted Nuthatch with a forsythia background that managed to hold still for a few seconds! Our house is reflected in the eye.

50d, 500mm, Iso 200, 1/160, F4 Please see LARGER version.

Nice job catching them still enough to get a shot. Nice complimentary BG. Detail looks real good in the big version.

Nice pose and tree!
Looks like the focus might have been on the body, since it's tack-sharp but the head is just a tad soft.
Some additional sharpening of the head only might help.
Nice catch!

I love the lines these Nuthatches create with their poses. Very well caught against the background Sharon :^)

Sharon, nice classic pose and I like the similar colors in bird and perch. The forsythia made for some nice background colors. I agree that the head seems just short of tack sharp.

These characters always make me laugh. Must have some tenacious grip to perch almost upside down like that. Great exposure work, Sharon, and good comp.

Sharon, I find this very appealing, a classic nuthatch pose, similar tones in the tree trunk and the bird's plumage against the OOF forsythias is lovely, a contrast of warm and cool tones. I might selectively sharpen the head just a smidge more. Comp works nicely for my tastes, I'd be happy with this in my files.

Better than anything I have of this species, which is nothing. I like the comp. Softness mentioned.

Everything looks top rate Sharon, great plane of focus to get the bird in so well at f/4
I especially like this POV that shows us the bit of color at the rear flank.
Well done & Happy Easter :toast:

Sweet pose . makes me wonder how the heck they stay on that tree? LOL. I like the general image as well and the great soft bg but also wished for a tad more sharpness.

Not a easy subject! Well captured in the typical about to fly away pose. Excellent! :toast:
