I came across this specimen in Northwest Arkansas on my way to shoot a waterfall. There were two standing side-by-side and I liked the way the rear flower provided an out-of-focus duplicate for the main subject providing a sort of exaggerated Orton effect on just the petals.

That is a nice effect, Bryan. The OOF petals (we'll call them that, regardless of the plant anatomy details) kind of look like a flame shooting out of the flower. Thanks for posting -- I have never seen this species.

Really cool specimine Bryan, and a great capture. Love the color and patterns in the BG, they really work well.

Nice choice of DOF and beautiful color. I like Wayne's reference to a flame. A very nice and pleasing image.

I don't recall commenting on one of your images before Bryan, so welcome to the gallery. I like this image a lot, particularly the composition. Perfect dof decision for my tastes. Appealing colors and I like the subdued mood of it Outstanding specimen image.. Hope to see more of your work here.

A lovely specimen, beautifully photographed, Bryan. I especially like the perspective and the dof - your ` Orton effect ' works really well. Hope to see more of your work.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. As some of you have suggested, this was my first post in this forum; I usually hang out in the Central States forum and have only recently started posting images into the various galleries.

Flora (and macro in general) are still very new to me, so your feedback has been appreciated.
