Peregrine
by Luke Ormand
Last week I was headed out to an island to work on some habitat restoration and on our way out of the marina (which is near the mouth of the Carmans River) my co-worker spotted this (female: based on size) Peregrine Falcon. Being in the boat let us get pretty close.

I've seen raptors get their feet trapped and die in wire cages like this; I hope removal of this lobster trap (?) is on someone's restoration list.
As part of the National Wildlife Refuge, it would fall on the feds. You can sort of see remnants of a dock behind the bird - when they come and remove that (this is in an extensive area of marsh) they will (likely) remove the old trap. I wish I could guarantee that, but the feds are pretty good at their job - at least that this particular refuge.
Charlie, I was thinking the same thing! Make sure you check out my fox kit shots to see how bad I really wish I had a 400 + 2X!
