I'm not sure on the ID, but thought I'd try a gold reflector to see what the results would be.
D80, 18-55 @ 38, ISO 100, F5 @ 1/6 sec, tripod

I's say they're spectacular Bob. I also like the dof decision. I might brighten the upper half of the flower a little but it's entirely subjective. The yellow agains the black bg is a killer. Beautiful image.

Welcome to the "Dark Side," this is really nice. I don't know if it's possible but were it mine I would try to bump the light just a tad if their were no loss in the petals contrast, otherwise it is wonderful as is!

The golden yellow contrasted against the black BG is very striking. I like the comp as well.

Spectacular flower, Bob. Only suggestion I would make is a curves layer to add some pizazz to the shot.

Your idea of a gold reflector was a good one.

Pretty flower Bob it looks to be some kind of an Iris. I've always found these flowers hard to photograph but you've done a wonderful job here. The color and petals edges stand out nicely against the black BG. Well done.

A very nice capture of this Iris. Nice choice of the DOF and yes really love the bg. Might be worth increasing the luminosity of the bloom slightly; TK basic mid tone luminosity mask will do the job nicely.
