Tidal Pool Sunrise + B&W

Ocean Point, Boothbay, Maine at sunrise. I have not posted much from this place lately. This is from June 2010. Unfortunately, when my laptop was stolen from my car in December during our move to NH, some of my small portable external hard drives were also stolen. Most of my images were backed up on 2 larger drives (2X)in a different location except for some of summer Maine images. Luckily, I found this on one of my CF's that I did not reformat. Lesson learned.

Thanks for looking. Thanks for any comments or critiques.

B&W version below.

Canon 5DM2
Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L II at 16mm
ISO50 1sec f/16
SR Color Combo + 2-Stop reverse ND

Beautiful Eva. The colors in the rock just bowled me over! Hope you'll go back there sometime and do some abstracts of that. The clouds add a great menacing touch to this. Well done!

This is a beautiful shot, certainly worth retrieving! I especially like the reflection in the pool, and the greenery floating in it. Also, the earthy tones in the rocks are nice. I imagine you were hating life without your laptop! I'm without mine right now as it was infected with a virus!!!!! I hope to get it back in a few days. Hence my lack of participation lately. Right now I'm on my old machine that is nauseatingly slowwwww. I can't believe I used to process images on this thing.

This is beautiful, Eva, and has your signature in the pixels. I really like the reflecting pool and the textured rock that surrounds it.

I think you should visit OZ, Eva :) It would be amazing to see your great take on our twilights, beaches.
I like this one a lot! The colour, details, rocks, reflections all works very well for me. The only tiny nik would be 5 dust like looking spots on the clouds. Nevertheless, it is a great capture. The colour of the sky is very attracting :)

With all the great elements in in this scene so beautifully rendered, I really appreciate how the all sight lines move toward the sun and unify the image. :toast:

Eva, another of your wonderful NE images. Full of the textures and color of a hard, but beautiful land, I always enjoy how you see it. As I spent several years in Nova Scotia, this brings it back for me.

Beautiful shot. I especially like the balance between the rocks in the lower left and the colorful sky on the middle right. I'd sure like to be sitting on those rocks listening to the wave and watching the light change.

The sky is nice, but I really love the foreground. I like it better with a little of the top cropped off to give more emphasis to the foreground.

I like the transition from warm to cool tones in the sunset sky which are complimented nicely by the color in the foreground rocks and vegetation. For me this image is all about the color. The B&W is technically strong and would stand well on its own. However, having seen first the color image there is no comparison for me. The color image seems much more warm and inviting to me. The B&W seems to create some tension as the storm clouds look much more menacing. This isn't necessarily a bad thing depending on the mood you want to evoke. However, for me I would go with the color all the way.

Beautifully captured scene. The light, colors, lines and textures on the rocks put this one over the top IMO. The BW is very nice but the color version rocks. :toast:

I like this scene and composition Eva. My only nit is the dark areas just below the horizon; almost as if you had a grad pulled down too low or something.

Beautiful shot Eva. Both work well for me, but I prefer the color. It's such an enjoyable part of the scene.

Eva, great placement of the pool amongst the rocks under the colorful sunset! The moss takes the scene so much further by adding just one extra color!

Wow, lotta colors in this one. Really wonderful image. I like the bw but it doesn't compare to the color.

Very nice image - I definitely prefer the color version. The contrast of the small area of green with the warm tones in the rocks and sky make the image for me.

Nice capture Eva, I really like both versions. The color presentation is very nice, and I like the color in the rocks as well as the green in the tidal pool. The bw version is very rugged and the textures/tones are excellent.

Sorry to hear about your laptop, that is a hard lesson learned. I always worry about stuff like that when I'm traveling and have all my rescent shots from the trip on laptop/external hard drives until I get home...
