Frog Jerky

My neighborhood burrowing owls are starting to get active in the mornings again. I stopped by yesterday morning and saw this little guy bringing some frog jerky to his burrow so his family could snack on it. I am assuming that the owlets are still too little as only this one (I assume the male) was out and about. It's mate would sometimes stick its head out of the burrow, but that was about it. Should be exciting to watch them in about another 4-6 weeks.

Michael,

Great shot! I love the dried matter falling off the lower part of the frog which adds an intersting element to the shot.

Can't help thinking "Frogmouth" for some reason - LOL ;^p

Seriously, wonderful capture Michael. Aside from the obvious, I love the squinty eye and the raised left foot, giving the primary subject forward momentum. A real pleasing image, very well done :^)

Not my taste in breakfast, but a pleasing image. The walking stance, eyes and similar toned bg really make this an interesting image. Nice work, Michael.

This is very cool. I like the little spray of sand and the raised leg. Looks like he was on the move. The eye is nice and sharp and the facial expression makes him seem happy to have some frog for dinner. :toast:

Nice catch and dynamic interesting behavior. I'm looking forward to more as the owlets come out of the burrow.

Excellent capture. Lighting is sweet on this. The exposure looks to be spot on and the detail looks good, though it is harder to judge with just the small post. I agree the raised foot and slight squint are very nice pluses. The frog looks to be road kill rather than caught, but these guys will eat whatever they find that looks to have some nutritional value.

Love the owl, frog, and BG Michael. Would love to see this larger, so I could assess detail and sharpness better. Cool shot overall.

Here's a link to a larger version of the image. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5070/5622866855_82d759c491_o.jpg

Is there a way to load the larger post here post hoc without having to link offsite?
