Redshank

Gallery: Regional: UKNPPosted April 10, 2011100 views10 comments
I spent much of last Wednesday at Elmley, in pursuit of hares. In the end my quest was successful, but as some beautiful hare images have been posted in recent days I will keep those for a little later and instead post this redshank that I saw as I was leaving.

This is more or less how it came out of the camera, with a slight crop for composition plus a single pass of usm.

Thanks for looking.

David

Typical Elmley Redshank.... for me I would like less room at the top though, there is just a little bit too much negative space that is weighing down on the bird...

Nicely taken David. I think I would be tempted to take a little bit of the top and RHS but still works fine for me as it is.

The welcome combination of blue and green makes for an attractive setting for this equally attractive bird. Good one.

I like the composition as presented as it seems balanced by the oof reeds at the top. Colours are great too. I wonder if there might be some loss of feather definition, although I can't understand why. Maybe another round of USM or just a little more contrast?

Good looking image, David. Exposure looks good in what seems like tricky conditions.
