Grand Falls Sunset

This is a shot from Grand Falls last August that I recently revisited. It's a blend of three exposures. Used Tony's hand blending HDR images using luminosity masks tutorial, phenomenal results with a little experimentation. Tony, one day when I'm not broke I'll actually purchase your actions! Critiques/comments please!

Jake, fantastic color and drama in the sky. IMO the fg is a bit dark, which is something you can work with. Also, the composition/crop of the falls seems a bit abrubt to me. My eye tends to fall off the llc.

It must have been a beautiful sight to behold.

Wow, what a scene, Jake. Every year I think I'm going to make it here, but get busy with other stuff. Agree with JB that a little be better balance of light here would really make this sing. Personally, these are things I often do after blending. I think your blend looks good.

You know, when I did the blend the FG was brighter but I wasn't sure how natural it looked, so I darkened it. Here's one a little brighter, let me know if it's still too dark. Thanks for the feedback, guys!

I love that sky! You did a nice job with the blend, but I agree the foreground is too dark. There look to be some really nice things going on in the water that some additional work will bring out.

I started out with TK's masks by following his excellent tutorials. After a time, I purchased the actions--best money I have ever spent on software!
