Well, sorry for the long absence friends. After much physical therapy I'm finally able to lift a camera and heavy lens again. There should be lots wrong with this image. It was taken in poor light at high ISO through a sliding glass door. But you have to start somewhere and I felt the need to start shooting again and post something. I would have liked to crop this as a horizontal image but There was some bad stuff over there. Shot with the Canon 50D and Sigma 150-500.

ISO 1600
TV 200
AV F8

I like your vertical comp more than I would like a horizontal. It is a bit soft, but you had a lot working against you....poor light, shooting through glass, you're a bit rusty too...Better than I probably would have done under the circumstances. :toast:

Hey Clayton welcome back to Np as well as your world of shooting. I know that feeling of needing to get out and shoot something. Really not a bad image considering mentioned conditions. I love the spotted feather detail .

Welcome back, Clayton, I'm glad to see you here and I'm glad you're able and eager to do some shooting. I like the vertical comp also, but would like just a little more room at the bottom for the tail, otherwise I think the comp is really good. The detail here leaves something to be desired, but given the conditions (through glass, high ISO), that's inevitable, and ultimately in the big picture, who cares--what's more important is that you're able to get back to something you enjoy, and I'm sure that you'll get some better opportunities soon. Hope we continue to see you around.

Welcome back, Clayton. The bird does seem a trifle soft, but not bad. The pose is excellent as is the composition and the bg is gorgeous. :toast:

Welcome back, Clayton. The sliding glass door didn't do you any favors, but you might be able to pull a little more detail out of the side of the face with some very careful sharpening. Excellent pose.

What I like most about this, Clayton, is the color. You dialed in the exposure so well that the color is spot on. Nice work, and welcome back to Shootersville.

Nice image of the flicker, and the BG is beautiful. I too like the vertical crop and I think you did an admirable job under the circumstances. You'll be back!
