Celestial Equator

Hi all,

The Celestial equator is the place of the sky where the stars seem to travel in a straight line as it is in the middle between both celestial poles.

The photo shows Star Trails at the celestial equator region over a volcanic lagoon of Patagonia.

Thanks for the feedback and the WCs!

Luis

Dazzling. Astounding. Perfect. In the sky, every corner leaves me wanting more. That's a good thing I guess. Still, I am hoping you did a version with a wider coverage that caught more of the patterns. Thanks for posting this.

Beautiful. The way the star trails arc in different directions is awesome. Great shot.

Luis, a wonderful image that I like very much. Wonderful composition showing something I've never seen before: the divergence of the star trails north or south of the equator. Curious as to how wide a lens you used as I wouldn't have thought this diffenence would show up so well until a greater distance from the equator. Thanks for posting this.

Ty for the feedback!!! Really appreciated!

Peter: It's a 14mm shot on Full-Frame. I was at 42 degrees south of latitude so the Celestial South Pole is at 42 degrees towards the top-left of the image. The North Celestial pole is always below the horizon towards the bottom-right of the photo. The area imaged is around the Orion Constellation, that's an easy find so you can try it too!

Outstanding! I can't recall ever having seen a photograph such as this where the star trails are curving in different directions.

This is great, Luis! I love the usual star trails - this is unique and truly beautiful. The very subtle reflections on the smooth water add depth and beauty as well. Gorgeous!

Ty for the comments and feedback!

The Lagoon is called "La Azul" meaning "The Blue" I thought it was really suited for the WC.
