Hi folks, this is my first post in the Avian section of the forum. This was taken at Sanibel pier, in 2009 and not very challenging to shoot, really, so dont be fooled, lol! I thought I would crop it slightly and present it as a head shot, the orig is a shoulder to head. It was taken with my old Rebel Xsi, adn 24-105, @70 m, ISO 400 (it was late afternoon), f/6.3 at high speed. Just incase he/she flinched.

Welcome to the Avian Gallery Kat. The comp is pleasing and the BG transition works well. It looks like your Rebel is showing some noise at ISO 400, so it would be worthwhile to use your favorite NR program to knock that down a bit. It also looks a touch hot on the whites on the inside of the neck. You may want to recheck your raw file and try pulling those back with the recovery slider. There also seems to be a bit of a yellowish color cast. That may be from reflected light or a white balance issue, but you should be able to clean that up fairly easily. A good first post.

Here it is with the crop, and the color wash taken out and the use of Defin2 to take out noise. However it was a small file with a tint added on purpose, so that may be why its was so noisy. I actually think this makes it a more boring photograph, but that is just my opinion.
