India won the 2011 Cricket World Cup last night, a moment of pride for 1.2 billion people, count me in that group. :). What else could represent the nation better than the mighty Tigers of India.

Bandhavgarh National Park, India, early morning.

@f/2.8, 300mm, summer of 2010.

Regards,
Kiran :toast: :toast: :toast:

sincere congrats to your team Kiran! thoroughly deserved, must confess I thought Sri Lanka to be the more balanced side going into the game...Dhoni's innings was magnificent.

back to the photo - lovely light and specimen here.
I do wish those blades of grass weren't in front of the face
I think taking off some from the LHS would move away from the square-ish crop?

Great detail and sharpness. One of the most beautiful animals in the world.

After my passion for my immediate family, nature, and wildlife photography, for better or worse there seems to be nothing left for sport of any kind, all the same, happy for you in your joy over your country's cricketing success ;^)

As for your Tiger: What a beautiful portrait :^)

I do agree with Morkel though, insofar as cropping a little more from the LHS would make the image all the more appealing; of course this is a personal taste thing, and I'm not real big on squarish crops.

@Morkel, India couldn't have pulled it off without Gary Kirsten, The Guru...sad to see he's going back to South Africa. Maybe, SA will lift the 2015 cup in Auz, am on your side for that.

I will take all critique without any complaints folks, am on cloud nine currently :-).

Thanks, Richard and Ashley...

This is a good portrait Kiran with good sharpness, nice colors, great low shooting angle and good bokeh. The only minor nit in my eyes is the grasses overlapping its whiskers and chin.

Hi Kiran,

Congrats on the victory - reminds me of how I feel every time Canada wins gold in hockey in the Olympics or the annual world championships!

Nice sharp shot and I'm going to go against the flow here and say that I LIKE the grasses in the image. Why? Without them, it woud be easy to assume this is a zoo shot and to me they add just a TOUCH of realism that says "shot in the wild" (now, I will feel like quite the idiot if it turns out this IS a zoo shot, but I think you know what I mean!).

My one very minor nit pertains to the crop - to me the image is centred just a little too much and I agree with Morkel's suggestion to crop a little off the left. I might go even further and suggest adding just a sliver of room to the right (assuming there's nothing "objectionable" added when you do that).

Cheers...thanks for sharing this, and congrats again...

Brad
