Little Spider on a Leave

by Tom Smit

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted April 1, 201143 views2 comments
This little spider landed on a leave in the water, so it's an easy target (I thought).
This is one of my first tests with hispeed flash and macro. I know I'm going to have a lot of fun this year. :):)

I also have a few more pic's on

The exposure look sgood as does the primary point of focus. I wish we were a little more head on to be able to see the palps better. It would also have shifted the near OOF leg facing us a bit more out of the facial area, but those are relative nits working at these magnifications.

Great detail in this shot, Tom. Wow! I love the hairy legs and the multitude of eyes - and the colorful patterns on the spiders legs and body are wonderful too. The blurred legs so close to the head are a bit distracting, but overall, the image works beautifully. I especially like the tension on the water where one leg is touching it's surface. Beautiful.
