While not actually a mountain, this promintory is the high point of the Bookcliffs near Grand Junction, Colorado. I took this last fall in the early evening.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

The light is perfect for this 'portrait'. I really enjoy the warm colors and textures.

I've driven past this on my way to Denver, but this light really flatters it. The textures and the shape play a big role in your comp.

Love the light and the wonderful forms and textures of the contours of this mountain. Beautifully done, Morris.

A strong and static composition, Morris, that is consistent with the subject. I enjoy the textures and colors.

That light really makes the earth golden, and really makes the shot. Another shot I see here is a square comp, cropping the sky totally out.

The warm light is beautiful. I love these kind of detail shots like this. All the little nooks and crannies keep me looking a long time. I also like the rubble piles in the bigger draws.

Nicely done Morris - I like the texture in the rocks caused by the angled light, and the warm/cool contrast works well here.

Lovely light! I spent a few night under the Book Cliffs a few year ago. A truly beautiful area.

The great light and your pov really bring out the features of this formation. I really like the way the lines of erosion lead the eye right to the top.

Very nice Morris. I like it as is, but would also like if the top 40% were cropped off, leaving just the eroded valleys.

Lots to savor here, Morris. I agree with the others, and just have to add that this is one of those cases where a bald bluebird sky actually complements the scene rather than detract. Fine job of 'development', as well.

I am going to echo Rick's comment and favor a square crop. I am really enjoying the lines, textures and colors of the hills and find the top portion of the frame pulls me away from that. Sweet light.

This looks vaguely familiar to me. I wonder why  I love the way the Book Cliffs glow sometimes, and you captured that glow perfectly. I must admit, I like the crop suggestions to leave out the sky and focus on all the little nooks & crannies, textures & lines present below.
