Creature in the boneyard

Our camera club took a weekend trip to Charleston, SC and one morning we hired a boat to take us to Capers Island for sunrise. There are hundreds of old trees on the beach and in the water, which is why it's called "The Boneyard". This was about 20 minutes before the sun came up over the horizon. Note the single morning star between the branches in the reflection.

Kind of looks like a creature rising from the pool.

Classic photograph Richard. Looks good to me for the style you were going for.

Great composition on this image. Took good advantage of the morning. I'm originally from SC and rarely get homesick but this is getting me there. Now let's see some more of those Charleston shots.

Richard, this has an amazing surrealistic look! I enjoy the bizarre subject together with the plain surroundings. Great capture of the moment and fine processing.

The lines of the photo are appealing. The lower left water edge brings the eye to the extreme left center, the the silhouette pulls the eye. Then the pastel pink captures the mind.
I see a little fringing on my monitor around the silhouette.
Great planning and appealing photo.

Wonderfully calming shot Richard, I like the transition in colour in the sky and the reflection.

I find the contrast between the sharp lines of the tree and the softer water and pastel colours very interesting Richard. Great shot!

Beautiful composition. Well done to find this after a boatride in the darkness to an island then a race against dawn to find the right spot... or had you scouted it?

Love the blues and the subtle orange/reddish color in the sky. The fg pool and "creature" silhouetted really gives this character. Great image!

I love the light here Richard! The deep blues and reds on the horizon are gorgeous. Reminds me of my favorite beach in Inverness Nova Scotia.

Richard,

Excellent. I really like the stark contrast between the solid black "creature" against the soft pastels and light of the rest of the scene. Very nice composed too with the tidal pool pulling the viewer inward. Nice use of the rule of thirds too; a well balanced and composed seascape with a special creature addition.

Way cool, Richard! The creature gives this a uneasy feeling in an otherwise peaceful scene. This makes me want to visit these islands.

Very nice composition and mood to this, just enough light to display some subtle colors and the reflection is great. Well seen and well done.
