Great Hornbill in flight.
It was a grab shot...didn't get much time to change the settings.
Thank you so much for your kind attention & views!
Canon 7D; 500mm; ISO 125; 1/1250 sec. at f 4.5

PS. For those who like wings up position, I'll post it at later date.

Very nice flight shot. The detail looks good in the larger version. The lighting and angle work well. I just wish the wing-bill merger wasn't as strong.

Impressive seeing this species in flight Jagdeep. Love the position of the bird and the comp. Seems like this is a largeish crop based on the amount of detail in the larger version, but a nice flight shot of a cool species.

Oh boy, am I'm envious or what?!??! ;^. This is a stunning image Jagdeep! While in Borneo last November (after only a month of real practice photographing birds!) I was lucky enough to see and take photos of Black, Bushy-Crested, Oriental Pied, Rhinoceros, Wreathed, and Wrinkled Hornbills, yet not one of those photos came out anything close to this :^(

This is truly superb and sets a high standard for me to aim toward; I may not get the same or even similar opportunity with a Great Hornbill, but all being well I'm off for another five days to Sabah, Borneo again in May, and hopefully this time I'll come back with at least a few shots I'm not too embarrassed to share ;^)

Thanks for the inspiration :^)

Magnificent bird. I'd be happy to "grab" a shot like this one any time.

I always saw them walking, never flying. For a "sudden" shot you got it, even if to me it seems a little out of your high standards. Anyway, colors are excellent, some details are missing especially in the darker areas. Suggestions? maybe a slight tuning of shadows in raw might help.

Cheers, Luca
