Sacred Ibis Wingspread

We have a LOT of these birds at our local duck pond. They offer nice practice opportunities for BIF shots, especially as they love to use the air currents to twirl and dive towards their perches.

You can imagine from the plumage they are tricky to expose perfectly.

Techs:
Canon 7D with 100-400mm L IS USM @ 310mm
f7.1 | 1/4000 SS | ISO-1600
Exposure bias +1

Interesting stork - looks similar to our wood storks.
You did a good job with exposing the whites of the bird. If possible, IMO, dampening the whites of the sky, and lightening the bird's head, would improve this nice image.

The great wing position and nailed exposure make the shot for me, super detail too. Top shot, Morkel.

Very cool image, Morkel! The spread out pose goes well with your choice of composition. There is enough detail in both the dark parts and whites without any over exposing. I too recommend toning down the light sky to bring out the ibis better.

Absolutely beautiful Morkel, I love the lighting on the subject and the details you've managed to capture in it's wings :^)

Nicely done Morkel, I particularly like the clouds in the bg, good job with a tough exposure. The iso seems a little bit high with the shutter speed you had. A belated welcome to NPN avian. :wavey: :toast:

Exposure is spot on and the detail in the wings and body is terrific.

thanks very much for the criqitues and the warm welcome folks.

Nate - the sun was setting fast and I might have jumped to a higher ISO 5 minutes prematurely
