John, Great DOF; this would make a wonderful magazine cover.

Great shooting.

This is an unusually clean, well groomed appearing bison pair. Nice job with the exposure!

Love it. I think I could feel the texture of their fur. Nicely framed with the warm grasses adding a nice counter balance.

I agree with Lon. These are the cleanest bison I've ever seen photographed. Your composition is wonderful and the exposure right on, allowing us to see all the great detail in their fur, horns and face. Really terrific!

Nice job to get both in focus with good detail and sharpness. I like that the larger buffalo is in back and how the nose and horns are almost even within the frame, excellent portrait, well done.

Great photo here. Excellent detail and nothing to draw attention from it. Nice complimentary BG color combined with effective DOF gives the sense of an endless plain. And cooperative little beasties. All around very nice.

The muted lighting is working wonders in helping to bring out the nice details you captured.

Hi John,

I quite like this one and am in agreement with pretty much all the comments above (at least the positive ones, which they mostly are!). Two very minor nits. First - while I think the sharpness (and sharpening) of the subjects, on my monitor the foreground grass looks just a tad over-sharpened. Second, I'm feeling deprived by not seeing a larger version of this fine photo (which, of course, is really NOT a nit!).

Cheers...thanks for sharing this fine shot!

John: this is outstanding. It is so strengthened by having two subjects, and not only that, but a "couple." The wet facial hair adds texture, contrast and interest, and the expression (and sharpness!) of the eyes perfectly matches the overall strength and feel of the image. And then there's the detail in just the right amount of grass, the overall palette and quality of light...it all adds up to an A+ image that, as suggested, would make a magazine cover that would force me to pick it up.
