Feeding Time

Ding Darling, the nesting post near the exit on the last pond. Later in the afternoon, so a nice low angle to the lighting. A little blur to junior's bill but it doesn't bother me. The crop is intentionally tight as I was trying to eliminate the platform. The nest was pretty sparse.

40D ISO 400 500 w 2x II F8 @ 1/250 on tripod with Sidekick IS on.

Good light, well handled whites and great detail! I like the crop for it's intimacy.

the crop works well for me, and so does the hint of blur at the tip of the beak! tells a story...
gotta love that light!

Rick, really like the intimacy of the behavior, the crop works fine for me and the light hit the young bird just right. I do wish the bill of the youngster was sharper though.

I like the interaction you captured, and that the eyes are sharp on both birds. Nice light, too. :toast:

I like the very intimate view of the feeding behavior. I agree that the bit of blur in the bill isn't an issue, if fact it might be considered a positive. You might be able to crop a bit more on the right side to eliminate the partial wing all together.

A most captivating image Rick, I love the fact that you also managed to score so well on the eye of the subject to the right, very well done :^)

Hi Rick... excellent composition with your crop! Great interaction here, and while I would've liked to see the junior's bill sharp, you got the eye sharp which draws my eye into the image. Hope to see more.

You have captured the interaction between the parent and child very well, Rick. I like how prominent the eyes of both ospreys are in the larger version. You have some nice light and you have handled the whites very well. :toast:
