Again working to perfect my fill flash technique. Shot on the same day with fill flash . This one came out a little better I think.
Needed to rotate image ever so slightly so cropped about 5%

Lovely shot, Cheryl. Cute pose and some nice detail on bird and perch. The bg is a little bright: maybe more impact if you could improve the contrast between bird and bg by lowering exposure on bg a bit. Does not look "overflashed" to me. Teeny-tiny catchlight could be larger. :toast:

I like what the fill flash did for the bg, Cheryl. To my eye, the bird looks just a trifle soft, and the solid black eye is a bit offputting.

What exposure compensation are you using for your flash shots?

Thanks you two. Dennis the flash exposure comp was never set, so this is full flash, I have learned from then  Also ye the eye, I thought that as well. I tried to burn out the flash reflection. I shall fix that

A delightful image Cheryl, I like the background and the pose, it's unique and adds interest to the image, and because of the pose I think the vertical crop works very well. If this was mine I might have cropped to have the bird a little more to the right in the frame but I don't know what the background was like further to the left. In any case, it's a very nice image as is. :toast:

The endearing pose makes the shot for me Cheryl. Not tack sharp perhaps but not bad either.
