Lewis moor and peat beds

Much of the inland areas on the Isle of Lewis are moorland with a mass of peat beds and lochs. I loved all the different colours and textures underfoot and of course you have the wonderful views south to the hills of Harris (part of the same landmass as Lewis).
This one is blended from 3 exposures - I'm not 100% happy with the blend but still feel it is less abrubt and unnatural than it would have been using my hard ND grads, whereas soft grads would have caused problems with the narrow band of transition required here. The could be a case to darken the f/g a little moe but I'm loathe to lose anything here.

A very peaceful scene, I can't find any fault with the blend technique. :toast:

Lizzie, Just looking at the large version and it is Beautiful! I love the colors in the grass, and the sky and reflection are wonderful. I like that there are some ripples in the water too for some added texture. Has a bit of a stained glass look. I bet this would really look good in a large print!

This is gorgeous Lizzie! Wonderful sky and reflection. I also like the curves of the land and dancing grasses poking through the water. The large version is especially beautiful.

Excellent colours, and the blend came out very well. I could see pros and cons to making the lower left corner a tad darker, but ultimately would probably just leave it the way you have it.

A very beautiful landscape indeed. Like the curving water and the reeds pointing into the distance. The reflection is very nice and the blend looks good.

This is a very nice shot and the blend feels pretty good to me. Actually, I can't even tell that it is a blend. It's a good shot with a lot of subtle appeal.

This is a beautiful shot. The flow through the image due to the curving moor and the curving clouds is tremendous. I'm inclined to agree with you that a slight darkening of the foreground would seem more realistic, but that's a very minor detail.

Very nice! The frame is nicely filled in this comp. I hesitate to say it because many of my images appear cool. This does feel just a hair on the cool side to me.

Stunning, simple, beauty. Love how the sky is so dominant (and wonderful), but the land and water are still beautiful.

Thanks very much for the kind words - in particular pleased to know the blend seems natural enough to most of you - it was done with layers by hand, no automation...
Chris - arguably this is a tad on the cool side - generally I tend to err that way I'd say - I tend to start off with a colour temperature akin to daylight film and then adjust it to reflect best what I saw/remembered - but of course we all see colours differently and I suspect all remember then a little differently too so there's always room for a little alteration.
