Isle of Skye, Scotland

Another one of favourite images from last year but I wonder how much impact it has for others. After a pretty dreary day, some fog appeared and a bit of light filtered through to give it some life. The ethereal light lasted a matter of seconds.

Canon 5DMkII, 16-35mm 2.8L, polarizer.

A unique photograph with tons to view in the foreground. Definitely some interesting textures going on there. It's Scotland, so there has to be fog in the photograph. Works well for me. ;]

The Fairy Pools of Skye with waterpipe gully just visible through the mist. Even with Scotland chucking the worst of its weather at you it seems you still came away with some classy shots.

Lovely picture with four different areas in it. I like the light on the foreground and the mist is so typical for Sky. Seems like autumn colors.

I like this almost in its entirety, except the water in the midground. I don't know how to explain it in terms of quality, but it just looks out of place, being blurred, clear, and surrounded by very sharp detail.

Great impact - even at thumbnail size and of course most so when viewed large. I can see why this would be one of your favourites - lovely moody light, super range of subtle colours and I like the way the reds/pinks in the f/g rocky bed tie in with the reds of the land beyond.

The wide angle and extreme DOF does make the foreground interesting and slightly confusing. I guess the water is running under the foreground and off to the right.
This was a rare moment reminding us all the LIGHT IS EVERYTHING. There is a lot of ambiance in this photo and I'm glad you were there.
Thanks for posting.

Great mix of textures and colors Kah Kit.. I like how the stream snakes through the landscape carrying the viewer to the misty mountains. The type of gorgeous and moody landscape I just love.

I have to admit that I'm with Phil here - the blurred midground looks somewhat strange to me. I can't say I don't like it, but it sure draws my eye off the other elements off the frame a lot. Which is a bit strange, since it's the only element that's not sharp. Great colors, in any case!

The colors and textures in the bottom 2/3rds are amazing. The fog and the distant mountains do add a sense of place, but I would rather stare at the foreground.

Works very well, especifcally textures and details in the foreground. Greenish color in the midlle of the image is interesting, but somehow patch of white feels tiny bit too bright.

Just to clarify these fairy pools have this exact stunning color. The way they stand out from the surrounding rocks is for me part of their appeal. Of course one would expect the underwater rocks to be blurred. If they look put if place that's just the nature of this unique landscape.

The water seems out of focus rather than blurred. I guess that's what confuses the eye: contrast between sharpness vs. apparent unsharpness.

Other than that, I like how there are darker rocks at the sides of the frame, framing the composition. I like how the foreground has all these curves leading up the frame. Wonderful colors and texture in the foreground too.

Congrats! :)

The image is a bit perplexing, thought I like it's combination of abstract and real qualities. Just wondering if the foreground feels a bit too light relative to the rest of the scene.

The color and textures of these rocks and stream are flat amazing. Together with the distant mountains and clouds, simply phenomenal.

This image has a lot of impact for me, Kah. There is just so much to look at in the large version, and the foreground is wonderful with all the textures and colors present. The fog adds a nice touch. :toast:

It has enough impact that it gives me a strong urge to go see this place someday. The foreground is fascinating and the distant fog settling against the peaks creates a nice mood. Quite a fine image from my perspective.

The mix of colors and shapes in the FG really make this one stand out. The fog in the background is nice, but it's really the lower 2/3rds of this image that grab me.
