Crocodrile

Taken in Costa Rica, one year ago approximately, near the mouth of Sirena river, but in the sea. Crocodiles and sharks enter and leave the river with high tide and they are more active in this period of time. It is not a full frame, but I'm not sure if the composition works. Sometimes I think the photo is too centered but when I move it, it looks like too unbalanced.

Canon 1D Mk3
300mm f2.8
f 4
1/800
ISO 100
Crop.

Feedback and comments always welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Oscar.

I think the composition works well. That croc looks like it's about to jump out of the picture and bite the viewer. The sharpness in the splash adds a lot to the feelings of motion and drama.

Hi Oscar. The comp looks very good to me. The wave, open mouth and churned up water gives a real sense of power. Great image. :toast:

Perfect centered as it is. Looks like he's surfing. The teeth and the eyes are fantastic and a bit scary. Great capture.

Having shot crocs at Sirena before, I think this is a great capture. It's tough to get them this close and facing you to boot. Plus, you got a nice wide open mouth. Nice one, Oscar.

Oscar,

Very captivating shot. It works very well and should be hanging on your wall. Congratulations on a breathtaking shot.

Other than this being quite simply an excellent capture with wonderful detail in both the subject and the waves, for me it has the added bonus of spreading my smile even further, as the first thing that came to mind when I looked at it was, this Croc is body-surfing and, by what appears to me as a devilishly big smile on his face, he's having one hell of a great time - LOL ;^)

Seriously, terrific shot with lots of appeal, very well done Oscar :^)

Kind regards,

Ashley

Hi Oscar,

Hmmm...didn't know crocs surfed! Learn something new every day! A real unique and interesting shot - well done. My first thought on the composition is that I wouldn't mind seeing slightly more foreground for the croc to be moving into, but without seeing the larger version (and, for instance, how out-of-focus the foreground is) I can't really say this would improve the shot or not.

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Fabulous image Oscar.
If it was my image it wouldn't be full frame either.I'd have been moving in the opposite direction at a rate of knots!

This is awesome! I really like the head emerging from the wave and open mouth, it creates a sense of action :wavey:
