This picture of a Painted Lady butterfly was taken at a botanical gardens in Maine. He flitted among the flowers for awhile and then came to rest on my shoulder for about 30 seconds after I took his picture. A memorable moment!

Canon Rebel T1i. 187mm at F/8 for 1/250 sec. ISO 800.

Love the colors. The blues of the penstamon really spark and are a perfect foil for the butterfly. Great bg, too. Sounds like a fun day. Nicely done

In the images I've seen a butterfly shot allowing a comp like this is very unusual, and it's very special. The colors are beautiful, the light is great, and the detail looks good in this small version.

This shot has fantastic impact. The bright, contrasting colors jump right out at the viewer, and the diagonal composition provides even more interest. The detail here is fantastic - and you've made just to keep distracting elements out of the frame (and the lovely, soft background) so the eye goes directly to that most important element - the butterfly. This is absolutely gorgeous.
