Elk Battle

Hi everyone! I just got back from a trip to Banff National Park and decided to post some pictures. My dad and I found four bull elk near a construction site while we were taking a walk on a trail. After waiting and waiting for something interesting to happen two of the bulls locked antlers and started to fight! My dad and I got some pretty good pictures but this one is my favourite. I really like the way his eye looks, and I love all the snow flying everywhere!

I'm going to post a second picture later and would like to know which one you like better. I would also appreciate what you think about the crop (which is about 80% as my dad and I thought it was stronger that way) and post-processing, as I'm going to enter it into a competition and want it to be as good as it can be.

I like this alot, Jenaya. It's full of energy, dof is good, crop works for me, only nit is the strong light and loss of detail in the snow. Beautiful capture. Nicely done

Awesome behavior action here Jenaya  The flying snow and intense look on the snow covered bulls face is great. You did wonderful job on exposure, considering the tough light conditions. Sweet Photo :toast:

Great action shot, Jenaya. The flying snow really adds to the action. Nice job with the composition.

This is definitely a very compelling action photo Jenaya. I think composition wise this could not be much better; placing the heads in the center is a logical choice in a situation like this and the slight diagonal helps to make it more interesting. Not that the pine tree in the BG is a major distraction, but I do feel this would be better if it were not there. :toast:

Way to go catching this great behavior image. I really like the nice detail on the elk and the flying snow. There is a hint of warmth in the scene that I like and would try to retain. Tough one to compose, but I think you got it right. :toast:

Wonderful action shot, I like the composition and the crop you did. The image has good detail on the larger version, I think you did very well in getting this difficult shot in bright light. Way to go.
