Pickwick's Dream

They're up! They're up! And by the look of the posts in Flora, everyone has Spring Fever!

D700, 105 + 36mm ext.tube, hand held, flat on my tummy with my nose in the dirt. f 7.1, 1/50, ISO 200, -1.0 EV.

I liked this for the multiple kinds of contrasts and a sort of design element. Does it resonate with you that way? What do you think of the focal plane? the comp? What impact does this image have on you positively or negatively?

Thanks for viewing and especially for commenting for those who do!

Catherine,
I like it a lot. I think is a fascinating image. I love how the lines and the in-out of focus play with my look. Well done. :toast:

The only thing I might change would be to eliminate the top corners. Otherwise this is a fascinating image that my eye continues to wander around exploring in focus areas and the lines. I like it.

Catherine,

I don't connect with the composition and I suspect it's me and not the image. I like the strong center diagonals but am having trouble relating the soft S curves in the petal edges to them. To my eye the shapes don't complement each other and I can't really figure out what to do with the spaces at the top in the composition.

I like the color hues and I like the mood of the image very much. I just don't know how to relate to the comp.

I use the tummy/nose/elbow tripod, too!
Catherine, I really like the structure here. The colors, lines, and shallow DOF works well for me! Very abstract!
Mine should be up soon...fingers crossed our upcoming snow storm doesn't stop 'em!

I like the lines and the colors Catherine. For me, I am not resonating with the shot overall - not sure exactly why...

Catherine: Count me in with the bunch counselling a crop of the upper corners but also applauding the color palette and DOF choice. Nice one.>=))>

I like the image overall but agree with the top corners comments. That's a very minor thing though. the details that are there are nice but I'm unsure of the OOF petal edge in the upper left portion of the image.
